Howard Stern Coming to Comics

Bluewater Productions is an interesting little outfit. The publisher is making a name for itself by releasing biographies of celebrities in comic book form. One of their newest entries into the burgeoning (?) field of comic bios is Orbit: Howard Stern, due in stores today.

“He is the voice of a generation, the voice of dissent, the voice of the people. He says what we all want to say and does what we all want to do, and people love him for it,” said writer CW Cooke. “He's been in the public eye for years, but he's still an enigma.”

The self-proclaimed "King of All Media" has been selected as the first subject featured in the publisher's new comic title Orbit, penned by Cooke and illustrated by Kent Hurlburt. The issue examines Stern's rise to fame, his approach to broadcasting and his crude persona, all of which led to his new position on satellite radio.

Full press release after the jump.

“Orbit: Howard Stern” will hit comic shops and online retailers on Wednesday, June 8th. The 32-page comic retails for $3.99.

He changed the face and tone of radio for a raw, edgier generation and then set his sights on TV, movies, books and satellite broadcasting. Howard Stern, the pioneering “shock jock” and self-proclaimed “King Of All Media” was selected as the first subject to be featured in Bluewater Productions' latest biography comic title “Orbit.”

“Orbit: Howard Stern” lifts the veil on the man behind the microphone by examining his rise to fame, his assault on the status quo of broadcasting, his over-the-top, sometimes crude persona and his ground breaking move to satellite radio.

“He is the voice of a generation, the voice of dissent, the voice of the people. He says what we all want to say and does what we all want to do, and people love him for it,” said writer CW Cooke. “He's been in the public eye for years, but he's still an enigma.”

The inaugural issue of “Orbit,” penned by Cooke and illustrated by Kent Hurlburt. The suggested retail price (SRP) for the upcoming comic book is $3.99.
