Defense With the BoomStick

(Disclaimer: This post is an ongoing story set in a world where zombies have taken over and people are fighting to survive anyway they can. Originally it was a post of news and tips to help survivors make it one more day alive, but now it has became a story of my fight after being bitten and partially cured to walk as a half-zombie among them.)

I don’t know how, but they found me.

It started at about one o’clock last night with all this banging and noise outside my barricades. When I took a look out there I saw what was causing the noise, a bunch of those radioactive zombies that have been forever dogging me finally caught up to me. At first it looked like they were probing the outside of the building, staring at the entrances and barricades I put up as if looking for a way in. These bastards are like velociraptors in their thinking and when I made a little bit of noise they all got really excited and starting moving fast and hard trying to break in.

I wasn’t going to sit back and wait for them to break in and come to me so l decided to get proactive and take them out. in the first few minutes I got a few of them with some lucky headshots taking down three of the eight attacking me and when one breached, a well placed, double-barrel shotgun blast took care of him before the rest scattered.

2Odd bit of behavior these radioactive zombies exhibit as they had a way in if they forced it, but backed off to regroup and try again or wait for me to come after them. This level of intelligence they are showing is kinda of scary and hopefully not a foreboding show of what is to come.

With the break in the battle I shored up some of the barricades they damaged and gathered and reloaded all my gear in case I need to make a break in the near future. Took another look outside and realized why they scattered like they did as there were engine noises off in the distance. Ran up onto the roof and saw the lights of cars moving through the town and realized those bandits must have heard my transmission and finally caught up to me.

I do have some time before they get here as a bit of resistance is meeting them head on in the form of regular zombies attracted to their engine noises. This leaves me two choices, neither of which is a pleasant idea. I can stay and fight the bandits and possibly the radioactive zombies at the same time or make a run for it and deal with the possibility of fighting those faster zombies while on the run and in the dark.

No matter what choice I make it is going to be crazy, so here's to making it out alive no matter what and being here for next week. Until next week keep surviving--like I will be for these coming hours.
