Defense With the BoomStick

(Disclaimer: This post is an ongoing story set in a world where zombies have taken over and people are fighting to survive anyway they can. Originally it was a post of news and tips to help survivors make it one more day alive, but now it has became a story of my fight after being bitten and partially cured to walk as a half-zombie among them.)

Ack..(coughing). I feel like I am coughing up a lung on this one.

That was one hell of an explosion and firefight we just had. Ever since we broke out of that house last Friday we've been chased by radioactive zombies and shamblers the entire week. For the most part it has been those slow bastards on our tail with intermittent appearances by the super zombies flying out of the woods at us.

We have made at least half a dozen stands in buildings to take out as much of the pursuit as we can. I feel worse for the regular survivors with me as they have been running on little sleep. I can go a lot longer with no sleep maybe one of the pluses that come from being partial zombie.

We managed to find an abandoned fallout shelter. I think we are back in Pennsylvania, but honestly I couldn’t tell you. The amount of running and fighting this past week has made the direction we headed not that important.

Right now it's down to just me and two others as the rest have fallen during this week. Lost one person just earlier today, which is the reason we were able to escape as they were surrounding him. Keep coming back to the thoughts that I'm drawing this disaster down on other survivors. That, or is this world just that messed up that nobody is going to make it?

At least in the shelter we're a bit more secure for once; safe underground for the time being. Happened upon it by chance really and I'm damn thankful for it. While this is the most secure place I've had in a long time it does have some problems. From the looks of the place someone else had been occupying this spot for a long time, but must have left it for the same reason we will in a day or two. No supplies anywhere beyond a bit of water and a can or two of beans.

We can stretch the food for a couple of days more since I don’t need to consume as much anymore, but I still have to take more medicine to keep the zombie side in check. I don't want to let it take over and kill these two I've fought and bled with over the week as that would definitely not be good. This chance for rest is well needed as my body has been wrecked through all this.

Muscles just don’t feel great so quick anymore. Not looking forward to going back up, but it will have to be done. Here’s to hoping some good luck awaits us.
