Vertigo Launches New Series in March
On March 7, writer Bill Willingham starts a Fables spinoff called Fairest. Each storyline will explore the secret histories of one character, from Sleeping Beauty to Rapunzel, Cinderella to The Snow Queen, Thumbelina to Snow White and more.
The first six-issue arc follows Briar Rose after she was stolen away by the goblin army in Fables #107. Phil Jimenez lends his talents to pencil the tale with Andy Lanning on inks and Adam Hughes on covers.
One week later (March 14) has Saucer Country arriving in stores. The dark thriller features Arcadia Alvarado, the Mexican-American governor of New Mexico, faced with immigration, budget cuts and an alcoholic ex. She's about to start campaigning as the Democratic candidate for President of the United States. The work features writer Paul Cornell and illustrator Ryan Kelly.
March 21 sees the release of Dominique Laveau: Voodoo Child by Selwyn Seyfu Hinds and illustrated by Denys Cowan and John Floyd (covers by Rafael Grampá). New Orleans has its share of hauntings guided by the leadership of the Voodoo Queens, but all that changes post-Katrina.
Now, Dominique Laveau is suspected of killing a Voodoo Queen and must clear her name while finding out who's actually responsible.
Finally, The New Deadwardians is from writer Dan Abnett and illustrated by I. N. J. Culbard. The upper classes of post-Victorian England have become vampires to escape the lower classes, who are all zombies. Chief Inspector George Suttle is the lonely detective investigating murders in a world where everyone's already dead.
