Zombie Dawn Rises in Comics

It can't be said that there's a dearth of zombie material out there these days, with seemingly everything from meteors to rage to vague illness leading to an apocalyptic world where zombies, walkers, shamblers, etc. roam freely. That's not stopping Eagle One Media from throwing their proverbial hat into the zombie ring with their new Spanish language horror film Zombie Dawn.

And of course, every good film these days needs a comic book tie-in.

David A. Rodriguez will team up with Dheeraj Verma for the comic called Zombie Dawn: Safehouse. The work will be a prequel story that ties in to the events of the film. Cover art will be provided by Patrick McEvoy and Lee Moder.

The film has won some award recently at the Zixion Sars Film Festival in Chile for first time directors Christian Toledo and Lucio A. Rojas and art direction. It's becoming quite a darling, if you can say that about a zombie movie.

In Zombie Dawn, the year is 2006. A mysterious incident at a remote mining facility unleashes a zombie horde that decimates large portions of the cities and countryside. The only means of stopping them is to seal off the infected areas. This works until, 15 years later, the remains of the population realize they might want to know what happened. Naturally, they send in a team to the quarantined area to covertly find answers.

March 6, 2012. Eagle One Media is proud to announce comic book industry veterans David A. Rodriguez (FINDING GOSSAMYR, STARKWEATHER) and Dheeraj Verma (NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, ESCAPE OF THE LIVING DEAD) will team up to create and craft a comic book tale based on Eagle One Media's upcoming Spanish language horror feature film release ZOMBIE DAWN

The Rodriguez/Verma comic book ZOMBIE DAWN: Safehouse will feature a prequel story that ties-in to the events of the action-packed film and will be bilingual in English and Spanish. The comic will be marketed along side the theatrical release of the zombie horror feature. Cover art will be provided by Patrick McEvoy (MARVEL STYLE GUIDE, FALL OF CTHULHU) and Lee Moder (RED SONJA, HIGHLANDER)

Film Premise: 2006. A mysterious incident at a remote mining facility unleashes a zombie horde with an appetite for human flesh. It decimates large portions of the cities and countryside. The only course of action is to rapidly enclose the infected areas and seal them off from the rest of the remaining, living population. Now, 15 years later the tattered remains of the government and the mining corporation responsible where the initial event took place commit themselves to finding out what may have happened at the mining complex. The solution is to covertly send in a group of mercenaries and scientists into the quarantined zone to find answers.
