Review - Alpha Girl #4

At this moment fans are still in a golden age for zombies, as they are blowing up everywhere in just about every medium. This is especially true in comics, as there are so many different ways zombies can be used as the bad guy it's crazy. Alpha Girl #4 doesn’t disappoint in this department with their take on a zombie epidemic with all the women of the world turning into zombies and killing all men.

Image comics has a great one on their hands with a great team made up of writer and co-creators Jeff Roenning and Jean-Paul Bonjour, artists Diego Simone, Jeff Rassier and Drew Gill.

For this issue the survivors come across a woman who is not affected by the disease, simply hiding out. They come across more survivors to help in them getting out of the city and getting Alpha Girl’s brother on the way out. This task isn't getting any easier as now there is military presence throughout the city trying to restore order and not doing a great job at it.

Roenning and Bonjour's characters just make the comic so good as they have a bit of the stereotypical zombie characters, but also make them their own characters too. The story, artwork, dialogue and humor just makes reading the issue something to enjoy. They're all the right ingredients that work together with good amount of humor that kept me laughing most of the issue.

This issue has it all you could ask for in a zombie comic in terms of illustrations, with lots of bullets flying, explosions and guts flying everywhere. I don’t think seeing zombie heads explode can ever get old and Simone, Rassier and Gill manage to crack me up every time I see it. The art is another reason I loved this issue as they had a good number of brains going splat.

Can’t wait to get my hands on the next issue and see who is going to make it and who isn’t. The fourth issue ended on quite a cliffhanger that will definitely have you wanting to come back for more.

Alpha Girl #4 is in stores now.
