Preview - So Long, Silver Screen

What are the movies exactly? Are they effective storytelling devices to move us? Why do people love them so much? Are they worthy of multiple award shows? Well, Blutch plans to address those questions and more in So Long, Silver Screen from Picture Box Inc.

The work is written and illustrated by Blurtch and it's a series of interlocking short comics that move between scholarly history, romantic theory and ribald vignettes, featuring a motley cast of actors and topics including Burt Lancaster, Jean-Luc Godard, Luchino Visconti, Claudia Cardinale, Tarzan and Michel Piccoli. As much a visual essay as it is graphic novel, a daydream and a fantastic meditation on the other art of telling stories with images, So Long, Silver Screen is a new height for an uncontested master of contemporary cartooning.

The work is Blurtch's first in English and is slated to hit stores in April. Check out the interiors below.
