Defense With The BoomStick

(Disclaimer: This post is an ongoing story set in a world where zombies have taken over and people are fighting to survive anyway they can. Originally it was a post of news and tips to help survivors make it one more day alive, but now it has became a story of my fight to survive and to keep on living.)

Rumors and hints.

Rumors are all you can go off of when you hear about a possible safe place or read signs that could lead you to safety, with hints or clues along the way. Recently I found out some information about a mother-lode of a spot with some gear that just might change things.

While driving I came across a group of army vehicles--all destroyed and bloody; clearly a battle went down here a month ago. First, I was shocked there were Army folks still alive and kicking to be out this far and wondered what sort of battle went down. The good part about all this carnage is that I found is a map tucked into one of the doors that was still in one piece.

It was part of one of the higher-up's notebook, with the map wedged in between the pages. It highlights a spot near Reno, Nevada, that looks like it's some sort of base or outpost they were heading towards. From the looks of the remains I found around and inside the other vehicles, it doesn’t look like there were many in this unit. Must have been why the battle turned so quickly and got so bad fast to where none survived. With the amount of tattered clothes and no bodies, the zombies must have eaten a good bit of the soldiers before they woke up themselves and walked off. Zombies walking off is never a good thing; that leads me to think all the noise I made driving here might draw any in the area right back.

Gotta get moving again with at least a better direction of where to head now versus before. Too bad I couldn’t find any good gear to aid me as soldiers are always usually so well stocked. I fear in this zombie world for so long you just cannot find anything good to help you survive. I'll have to find some farms along the way before I get into Nevada as the desert is one unforgiving bastard.
