Image Finds The End Times of Bram and Ben

In the waning days of civilization on the planet, as whatever woe besets upon us all, there will be plenty of opportunity for people to define themselves. Some will cower in fear, others will try to be heroes. The point is that no matter who you are in the life prior, you get a chance to be someone else when it all falls apart. Rarely do you get to be someone else thanks to a heavenly clerical error though, which is just the case in The End Times of Bram and Ben from Image Comics, newly minted in graphic novel form. The work is written by James Asmus and Jim Festante and illustrated by Rem Broo, all of whom are pretty excited about the tale.

"Despite the giant, colorful, violent elements of the Biblical apocalypse—this isn't a''religious story,’’’ said Asmus, who was raised Catholic. “The real story Jim and I were excited to tell is one that shows a bunch of people reacting to one earth-shaking question: What do you do when you discover that reality isn't what you thought — and you're about to be punished for getting it wrong?”

Nobody ever figured Bram Carlson for the Rapture-worthy type. All in all, he's pretty much a total jerk. But when the Apocalypse comes, he disappears from the mortal plane along with the blessed—due to a heavenly clerical error. Heaven (somewhat) promptly sends him back. Bram's the only person on Earth who has glimpsed Heaven, and he intends to use his experience for the good of Bramkind. It's up to his morally conflicted roommate Ben to rein in Bram's ambition, but for a guy who never strived for anything important in his life, Bram's going after his dream like — well, like it's the end of the world. But will it be the end of a friendship as well?

The End Times of Bram and Ben is in comic book stores now and bookstores March 25. Full press release below.
IS THE END OF TIMES ALSO THE END... OF THEM?
New Image Comics graphic novel an irreverent look at the Rapture

Nobody ever figured Bram Carlson for the Rapture-worthy type. All in all, he's pretty much a total jerk. But when the Apocalypse comes, he disappears from the mortal plane along with the blessed—due to a heavenly clerical error. Heaven (somewhat) promptly sends him back. In THE END TIMES OF BRAM AND BEN, the Image Comics graphic novel in comic book stores on March 12 and set to hit bookstores on March 25, Bram's the only person on Earth who has glimpsed Heaven, and he intends to use his experience for the good of Bramkind. It's up to his morally conflicted roommate Ben to rein in Bram's ambition, but for a guy who never strived for anything important in his life, Bram's going after his dream like — well, like it's the end of the world. But will it be the end of a friendship as well?

In his first creator-owned graphic novel, writer James Asmus (THIEF OF THIEVES, Gambit) teams up with Jim Festante (writer/comedian for Comedy Central, MTV) and artist Rem Broo (nominated in 2013 for a Russ Manning Award) to tell a tale of the un-Raptured, shot through with humor and absurdity that make THE END TIMES the perfect new series for fans of CHEW to sink their teeth into.

The graphic novel has also garnered praise from some of comics' top creators:

"The best rapture since House of Jealous Lovers, The End Times of Bram and Ben's apocalyptic farce is about forty-seven times funnier than that music-obsessive gag."
- Kieron Gillen (PHONOGRAM, Young Avengers)

"The End Times of Bram and Ben has made me more excited than ever for the impending apocalypse! Top shelf comics courtesy of Asmus, Festante & Broo!"
- Joe Keatinge (GLORY, HELL YEAH, Morbius: The Living Vampire, Amazing Spider-Man, and James Asmus Enthusiast)
