Defense With The BoomStick

(Disclaimer: This post is an ongoing story set in a world where zombies have taken over and people are fighting to survive anyway they can. Originally it was a post of news and tips to help survivors make it one more day alive, but now it has became a story of my fight to survive and to keep on living.)

Year 5. Week 36.

I haven't been this physically exhausted in a long time. I usually felt like this when I was on the road; forced to keep on moving and keep one eye open at all times for danger. Even though I'm secure behind walls and with mountains up around us, it's still been an exhausting week with the amount of work we've done to get this place expanded to handle the influx of new people. It’s been non-stop around here allowing me maybe 15 hours of sleep the past four days.

Thankfully there haven't been too many zombie attacks or breaches at the wall and that's allowed us to get so much done. We’ve just about created a whole new neighborhood using those shipping containers as houses, with running electricity and water for them all. This right now is the closest to living like before a lot of us have seen or had perhaps since the world fell apart. I said it before and I'll say it again: nothing compares to having a place to shower and a toilet to use that actually flushes. I just can't get over how good life is at this exact moment and with death being around every possible corner you gotta enjoy it when you can.
As of now we're just getting all the work we can done everyday while we wait for the government forces to get back with more supplies to help feed everyone. We're clearing out land for farming and growing food to become self-sustaining sometime soon. The way I figure it if we can get this place going and get a procedure in place to make sure anybody who's bitten isn’t allowed to be on their own and cause an epidemic within these walls. To this point walls within the place are being put up, so if by chance someone who is bitten can be sequestered into areas that can be sealed off temporarily while the situation is handled, preventing the rest of the place from falling into chaos.

Eventually, we'll need to get some intelligence as to any more zombie build-ups in cities or really anywhere. Carson City was a big boost for our side and the more we can take out the better our chances will keep on improving. This momentum we’ve got going on is keeping our spirits high and that's why we need to find another target to head towards as the more we win the more the people will keep feeling up beat and believe in us winning this thing. For now though rest is in order. I am gonna crash at the new house I have I sleep for at least a day if I can. I fracking need it.
