Defense With The BoomStick

(Disclaimer: This post is an ongoing story set in a world where zombies have taken over and people are fighting to survive anyway they can. Originally it was a post of news and tips to help survivors make it one more day alive, but now it has became a story of my fight to survive and to keep on living.)

Year 5. Week 46.

The hunt is on.

We've found our prey and are heading that way to attack. The satellites scanning for us found a large concentration of zombies down in Texas. Now we find ourselves heading southeast towards Amarillo to lay down some pain on them. Our convoy is about ten vehicles deep, loaded down with fifty fighters and additional support coming down from Washington.

It should take us about two days or so to get there, depending on how the roads are faring. Back before the collapse of society it would take maybe fourteen hours, but now we gotta be cautious and make sure our path isn't fraught with ambushes. In the past zombies were grouping together and had some of the radioactive zombies moving them around and organizing them. This time though we have a lot more support coming our way in this fight than we had at Carson City.

Once our forces get into position for rapid deployment into the city is when the bombing will go down. I’m talking lots of bombs coming for the zombies massed there. That's the benefit of getting a recon group in close enough to see what they are massing in Amarillo for, but that's how we operated last time in Carson City. If any of those radioactive zombies made it out of there they may try to lure us into doing the same thing in Amarillo. Sending a team in to do recon could cause complications for the rest of the fighting force. It could be a trap to lure some survivors in and then ambush the rest of us when we go in to rescue the capture team.

Gonna set up shop in a town south of Amarillo called Canyon, as there are plenty of escape routes if things go south. Actually, we're going to be using the Texas A&M campus as our staging area and fortified location. This battle is going to be one of those shock and awe campaigns that used to be the cornerstones of warfare. Bomb the hell out of the place, then move fast and hard through the streets, blasting every zombie in our path. If all goes well we should be done and clear in a day or two, after which we can get back on the road and find more zombies to take care of.
