Defense With The BoomStick

(Disclaimer: This post is an ongoing story set in a world where zombies have taken over and people are fighting to survive anyway they can. Originally it was a post of news and tips to help survivors make it one more day alive, but now it has became a story of my fight to survive and to keep on living in this zombie world.)

Year 6. Week 12.

Scouting trip has been successful. We managed to track down the warehouse and man, it's legit. The amount of supplies in the the warehouse is staggering and we're still figuring out how to get it all back to our base. Our plan is to wait here for a few days longer to catalog as much as we can, so we can then figure out what will be needed now and what can be grabbed anytime.

I never imagined the sheer size of these places, with rows upon rows of all manner of things. You have no idea how much use a lot of the items here will help out; from sleeping bags to tents to clothes to batteries. We're going to be able to outfit a number of outposts with all manners of gear and are marking this warehouse as a possible spot for an outpost here in Tennessee. The paperwork in an office we found gives us the locations of all the other warehouses throughout the country, making them next on the list to hit. The plane we used to get here cannot carry even a fraction of this loot. The three of us are going to grab some choice items and load them up in the car we found, as we had to leave the plane at a local airport hidden in a hangar. You can never be too careful leaving a plane out, as some other survivors might decide they can fly and take it.

Beyond that we're spending some time locking this place down. Have to make sure no one else stumbles upon it and loots the good stuff that we plan on looting for ourselves. The site was already pretty secure with the high barb wire fences from the days when it was a warehouse shipping out goods to thousands of homes, but now it's a walled in tomb. All the fences are in great shape and after some work on our part, this place is gonna look like a complete waste of time for anyone to check out.

On top of that we're going to leave some traps and barricade all the entrances except for one or two that are pretty hidden already. We didn’t find any zombies milling about when we came upon the place, but that’s not to say some couldn't show up later on. You don't want to wander down a darkened row of goods when a zombie comes shambling out of nowhere on you. We have enough food and water to last us another four days until we need to get back to the plane and back to Kansas.

Once there, we've gotta gameplan on this convoy and where the trucks are going to come from. On our flight back we'll scout out some possible truck stops and distribution centers that could have the trucks and trailers we're looking for. That's the easy part, as dealing with zombies along the way there and back is going to be the bigger issue. We could make it all the way there without an issue or we might not; you can never tell. With the way that big attack went down the other week I feel like anything we do in Kansas City outpost is watched and reported on.

Those radioactive zombies are getting too damn smart.
