Defense With The BoomStick

(Disclaimer: This post is an ongoing story set in a world where zombies have taken over and people are fighting to survive anyway they can. This is my story of survival)

Year 6. Week 21.

Convoys on the move and those supplies are gonna be in our grasp before you know it.

We left three days ago and right now we're on the border of Tennessee, camped out. It’s been a slow-going process with the amount of vehicles in our convoy. Plus we want to make sure this mission goes off without a hitch and the more cautious you are the better. Even more so when you are dealing with zombies.

Speaking of zombies, so far we’ve only had light interactions with them. Mostly seeing some walking down the road that our scouting team takes out before the rest of the convoy flies past. Even when we break camp for the night--minimal zombie contact. Figure they have just been wiped out of this area or gone somewhere else. Whatever the case may be I'm not liking it. Just doesn’t feel right so after tonight we aren’t going to break camp anymore.

With the amount of people in this convoy we're just gonna keep on driving and only stopping to refuel vehicles; this will save us time and minimize zombie run-ins. We get there, load up and get our asses back to where those supplies can be used. They never said every day in the zombie apocalypse was going to be a walk in the park or exciting. It’s quite relaxing though watching the scenery fly past and I'm looking forward to seeing more of it as we start our nonstop driving.

This trip should take about a week to get to the warehouses. Once there we’ll set up a perimeter and start to sort through all the supplies. That part is going to take some time; sifting through the vast aisles of stuff those warehouses hold. Days on days in fact as there are three warehouses to go through. I’m hoping I can find some batteries that are still good as I would love to have a way to listen to some music.

I did hear a radio report that got passed through the outpost to us about a possible flyover recon. The government outpost in Washington state is going to send a couple of their long range scouting planes out this way to take a look at the path ahead for us. Once they do that their plan is to continue flying southeast to scout out South Carolina and Florida. Figure we'll see about finding a suitable spot for a new outpost to give us a further reach, with the ultimate goal of getting a spot on the ocean with a harbor.

Having an outpost with a working harbor and secure dock facilities will allow us to expand our reach. Being able to send boats out for fishing and eventually across the ocean to Europe or down south to the Caribbean will allow us to find other survivors and unite us in the fight against zombies. Sure, those are some lofty goals, but with the way the fight has turned in our favor it allows us to dream big. If this mission goes well enough and the supplies we need are all there that idea could come to fruition a lot sooner than we thought.

Sleep now, on the road tomorrow.
