2015 Future of Comics Winners
Baltimore Comic-Con is coming up soon and it's a great show for comic fans and families. This year, The Kids Love Comics Pavilion held its first "Future of Comics Contest." Young comic creators were invited to submit their own comic creations in hopes of winning a spot in the Kids Love Comics Pavilion to sell their books and art. The winners of the 2015 Future of Comics are Kate Davis, L.J. Fowlkes, Eric Mann and Trinity McKnight.
"We had some excellent submissions for this year's contest," said John Gallagher, Executive Director of Kids Love Comics. "It was tough choosing the winners, but we have a great lineup of impressive storytellers."
The Future of Comics row is part of the Kids Love Comics Pavilion. It features over 30 family friendly comic creators and inspiring workshops every hour. Full press release below.

The Baltimore Comic-Con continues to shine as the best comics event for families and young artists. This year, The Kids Love Comics Pavilion held its first "Future of Comics Contest." Young comic creators were invited to submit their own comic creations in hopes of winning a spot in the Kids Love Comics Pavilion to sell their books and art. Kate Davis Ma Douce Rose is the title of the young adult mystery comic by 16-year-old Kate Davis. She tells an eerie tale of a girl in Paris and a mysterious man captured by her beauty. Working digitally, Kate has created a very professional level quality comic. Staying on this path, she will have comic companies knocking on her door in no time.
L.J. Fowlkes "I laughed out loud when I read CHIBIWONGTONG," said Mark Mariano, Senior Director of Kids Love Comics. The Adventures of CHIBIWONGTONG is the fast-paced humor comic by 10-year-old L.J. Fowlkes. Truly capturing what it is to be a kid in today's modern world, CHIBIWONGTONG is a cute little cat who shares crazy adventures with his twin-brother-owners. L.J's love of Sonic the Hedgehog inspired him to improve as an artist and create his own comics. We can't wait for more adventures!
Eric Mann Drawing since he was able to hold a pencil, Eric Mann is a 17-year-old that has mastered the use of that pencil. His slice-of-life comic, Forward, gives us an inside look at high school. From rock bands to relationships, Eric tells his story with detailed art and excellent pacing. He enjoys drawing cards and gifts for people. "Time spent drawing is more precious than something bought in an instant," says the young artist. With a mindset like that, we look FORWARD to more great work from Eric Mann.
Trinity McKnight For her submission, 12-year-old Trinity included detailed backstories for all the characters in her superhero comic The Crime Catchers. "She has such a huge imagination!" said Chris O>Matic, Event Showrunner of Kids Love Comics. Being very passionate about comics, the young creator hopes to make it her career. "I'd like to share my stories with people other than the children in my neighborhood," she said in her submission. Trinity will be able to do just that at the Baltimore Comic-Con.
