Defense With The BoomStick

(disclaimer: This post is an ongoing story set in a world where zombies have taken over and people are fighting to survive anyway they can. This is my story of survival.)

Year 7. Week 2.

Its happening.

The zombies are mobilizing and attacking. We all thought this day would never happen or if it could even happen.

While en route back from the Bahamas we heard over the radio that our outpost in South Carolina was under attack. Our boats gunned their engines to get back there to help out. When we found ourselves about two miles from the outpost there was one more message sent out. "Fort Sumter has fallen…run for your lives."

We got closer and saw the destruction from sea. There was a swarm of zombies all over the outpost--kind of like ants. A mass of moving bodies, moans and a few screams as they systematically tore that outpost apart. I’ve never seen anything like it before in my life. We have to warn somebody.

With nothing we can do but draw attention to ourselves, we turn our boats north and start heading for the North Carolina coast. Once there we'll link up with the troops still at Fort Bragg and head back west. Need to get to Kansas City and warn them of what’s coming and get some support on the move from Washington state. This just might be the last big push to end either us or them.

I hope I never see a scene like that again. On top of that, I didn’t think there were that many zombies all massed together still left in the country. Those radioactive bastards are getting too smart and organized to be able to pull something like this off. All we can hope is if they stay bunched like this it will make it easier to do mass bombings on them and destroy as many as we can. Before they can reach another outpost or some other survivor town. The end is near at least for us in the US; I just hope a lot of us will get to see it.
