Transformers Revenge of the Fallen: Optimus Prime

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is released! To get you prepped for the film and help you identify which characters are in the movie not named Optimus Prime, Brandon and Tedd will be bringing you Autobot and Decepticon profiles each week up to the film's release. Expect one Autobot and one Decepticon each week. And the good thing about these profiles is that they will be Baysplosion free. Name: Optimus Prime Original Debut: Optimus Prime has been a part of the Transformer Universe since the beginning with the 1984 cartoon and pretty much every incarnation of them in comic book form. Transformed Vehicle: Freightliner Cab-over-engine is the mode that he has always disguised as in the cartoon and the comics. The flames that were on the side of the truck in the first Michael Bay Transformer movie were not part of his original design but added in for the movie. General Description: Optimus Prime is the leader of the Autobots and one of the most well-known one of all the Transformers. Originally, on Cybertron he was only a civilian, but was picked by the Matrix of Leadership to be the Autobots leader, a burden that weighs very heavily on him. He is overly compassionate and willing to sacrifice himself to save others and feels the death of any sentient being in his own spark. His courage, charisma and decisive leadership are what help turn the tide for the Autobots in the civil war that tore their planet apart. Optimus Prime is a force to behold on the battlefield as well and is one of the largest Autobots in size and strength. For weapons he uses his ion blaster and has an energon-axe to deal out Autobot justice to the dastardly Deceptions. He doesn’t pack the raw firepower of his weapon specialist Ironhide, but Optimus Prime makes it up with sheer guts and determination. His only weakness is his also greatest strength, and that is his compassion that all beings have the right to live and to improve the world around him. Qoutes: "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings." "No sacrifice is too great in the service of freedom." Check out the other profiles from the Autobots and Decpticons featured in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. And be sure to check out the film in theaters and IMAX June 24.
