Jughead Gets Due

Hamburgers, a crown made of paper and a mysterious "S" on a shirt have nothing do with Superman. When you mix in a god named Hot Dog, you're treated to Jughead--otherwise known as the greatest comic book of all time. And this October, Archie Comics will be launching a new ongoing Jughead series by Chip Zdarsky and Erica Henderson. Featuring the adventures of Archie’s hamburger-loving best friend, the new series will debut with an all new #1 issue from two of the comic book industry’s brightest stars. Zdarsky, known for his work on the hit Image series Sex Criminals, will bring his unique brand of comedy to comics’ biggest jokester.

“Jughead is the one character that I totally attempted to emulate when I was younger,” said Zdarsky. “Cool without being cool, voracious appetite, a slacker who doesn't always live up to his potential.”

The new series will run alongside the upcoming Archie series, launching on July 8, by Mark Waid and Fiona Staples, telling off-the-wall and hilarious stories in the new and revamped Riverdale. On getting inside of Jughead’s head, Zdarsky said, “He has moments where he shines and then goes back to being cool and zen. I love Jughead. He's the teen who's comfortable with himself, which is such rare, weird thing.”

Jughead #1 will be available in comic book stores and digitally on October 7. Full press release below.

Review - Bravest Warriors: Tales from the Holo-John

"Why are we pretending the Holo John is a greenhouse?"

The Holodeck on the Enterprise was always thought to be a truly marvelous piece of technology. Entrants could create and inhabit any world imaginable, moving to and fro as if they were actually there. There was an elegance to the design of the chamber that's nowhere to be found in Bravest Warriors: Tales from the Holo-John from KaBOOM! Studios. The one-shot is a collection of tales tied to the mysterious Holo John. "Mr. Tickle's" is written by John Omohundro, illustrated by Eryk Donovan, colored by Whitney Cogar and lettered by Corey Breen. "Heist" is written and illustrated by Kat Leyh. "Do Holo Johns Dream of Electric Pee" is written by Ryan Ferrier, illustrated by Jorge Corona, colored by Jeremy Lawson and lettered by Breen. "Father/Daughter Fun Day" is written by Paul Allor and illustrated by Adam Del Re. "Plant Bonanza" is written and illustrated by Mad Rupert and colored by Cogar.

Grumpy Cat Inks Dynamite Comic Book Deal

It's hard to argue that the rise in popularity of the internet has a direct correlation to an affinity for cats. Love them or hate them, the felines have made a name for themselves across the web in videos, GIFs and countless other incarnations. One of the most famous cats is known as Grumpy Cat and now "The World's Grumpiest Cat" has entered into a deal with Dynamite Entertainment (via Grumpy Cat Limited) to develop print and digital comic books/graphic novels. Grumpy Cat will debut the first of her all-new misadventures in a three-issue miniseries, released in Fall 2015 and collected into a hardcover graphic novel in time for the holiday season. Dynamite also plans to launch a website this summer where new Grumpy Cat comic strips will go up online every week.

"With her ever-present pout and sassy disposition, Grumpy Cat has won the hearts of people everywhere. I can tell you, we're thrilled, just absolutely thrilled, to bring this adorable curmudgeon's misadventures to the comic world!" says Keith Davidsen, Marketing Manager of Dynamite Entertainment. "One of the most important responsibilities for today's comic publishers is creating content that will attract fresh new audiences to experience the wonders of the medium, and Grumpy Cat is the perfect combination of unbearable cuteness, instant fan appeal, and established multimedia presence to make just such a thing happen. If you love the memes, the videos, and that irresistable scowl, then get ready for the wildly fun antics of Grumpy Cat and Pokey in Dynamite's all-new, all-sensational Grumpy Cat comics!"

Grumpy Cat's global following includes 7.6 million Facebook fans and over 31 million YouTube views. Since her photos first went viral in 2012, Grumpy Cat has gone from Internet star to real-life celebrity. The Standard Returns with Deluxe Ultimate Collection Hardcover

Believing in superheroes is a tall order, despite all the success Marvel is having at the box office these days. There's still room for new superheroes to make a name for themselves and John Lees has just one character in The Standard. And his tale is getting the deluxe treatment in an ultimate collection hardcover on Kickstarter. The Standard Ultimate Collection will clock in at 200+ pages and will feature a silver metallic ink on a jet-black cover. Lee's work is improved by art from Jonathan Rector and Will Robson, colors by Mike Gagnon, Ray Dillon, Gulliver Vianei and Mo James and lettering from Kel Nuttall.

"I've been working on THE STANDARD for more than six years," said Lees of his first comic book series. "And while it was a true thrill to hold that final issue in my hand last fall, THE STANDARD won't be truly complete until it's collected in hardcover format and sitting on my bookshelf. I'm thrilled and excited to come to Kickstarter to make that possible."

The Standard tells the story of Gilbert Graham, a world-renowned superhero in a bygone era, now an elderly man living a quiet retired life as a high-school chemistry teacher. But when his former sidekick is brutally murdered, Gilbert is forced to don the mantle of The Standard one last time to find a missing girl his sidekick had promised to rescue before his death, to solve the mystery of his sidekick's murder, and to inspire a world who has lost sight of what it truly means to be a superhero.

ComixTribe has also announced that there would be a special early-backer bonus, for Kickstarter supporters who back the project in the first 48 hours. The Standard Ultimate Collection Hardcover starts at $35 USD, but the campaign has price levels at a wide range of price points, starting at just $1. The campaign will end on June 26, and has a funding goal of $8,500. Full press release below.

Review - Indestructible: Stingray #1

"Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the newest member of the League of Defenders--Stingray!"

The motivations of a superhero are varied for sure. If it's not one thing it's another, but more often than not decisions are made that take into account the actions of others. What those decisions end up being aren't always viewed as the best, as they are in Indestructible: Stingray #1 from Darby Pop. The issue is written by Jeff Marsick, illustrated by Luca Reguzzoni, colored by Zac Atkinson and lettered by Troy Peteri.

Preview - Path of Exile TPB Vol. 1

Path of Exile is a pretty wildly successful free-to-play roleplaying game. Now--courtesy of Edwin McRae, Royal McGraw and Carlos Rodrigues, fans can find out how the nightmare began through Victario's eyes in the graphic novel that serves as prequel to the action-packed game. Before the Cataclysm, before the first exile set foot upon the corrupted shores of Wraeclast... there stood the Eternal Empire. There raged the Purity Rebellion. And there was Victario Nevalius, the People's Poet. Finding himself among the fearsome Karui, Victario negotiates an alliance with their king, Kaom, to oppose the tyranny of Eternal Emperor Chitus. Can Victario swell the Purity Rebellion's ranks with the greatest warriors in the empire? Can King Kaom defeat the finest archer in the empire, Marceus Lioneye? How will Victario survive to pen the tale? And how does this far-flung rebellion connect to the apocalyptic visions that plague Victario's every waking hour?

Review - Modern Testament #1

"I've been coming to bars for a long time...and never have I seen someone crush a shot glass with their bare hand."

Defense With The BoomStick

(disclaimer: This post is an ongoing story set in a world where zombies have taken over and people are fighting to survive anyway they can. This is my story of survival.)

Year 6. Week 39.

On our way through Arkansas. Man is it boring.

I mean the number of zombies we've had to stop and kill from following our scout team has kept it interesting, but the landscape is boring. All we keep on finding is burnt shells of small towns and just empty land. This view was something you would see back at the beginning of zombie takeover. Kinda surprised there are this many zombies still wandering around the fields though. Makes me think of those old zombie movies where they stagger around, moaning out "brainsssss." It's nice to laugh again and be in a place where laughter doesn’t get you killed.

Pretty soon we're going to leave Arkansas and I believe will be entering Mississippi. We don’t plan on going down too close to the coast, but skirt along the northern part of Mississippi. Our goal is to track along the northern parts of these states on our way to South Carolina. We've heard from the other three scouting teams and they are progressing well too.

Review - The Adventures of Aero-Girl #1

"The criminal mind is a confusing thing. What we need to focus on is wrapping this up quickly and quietly. I promised your mom we'd be home in 10 minutes."

The family dynamic is consistent on only one thing: that it's called a family dynamic. Families vary in how they interact within said family, largely owing to how the parents were raised when they were kids. Not many families can say though that they have to contend with being a superhero, which adds another layer of intricacy to the family dynamic. That intricacy is on full display in The Adventures of Aero-Girl #1 from Action Lab Entertainment. The issue is written by DeWayne Feenstra, illustrated by Axur Eneas, colored by Juan Pablo Riebeling and lettered by Adam Wollet.

Dark Horse Debuts New Characters in Figures Line

In case you haven't noticed, Game of Thrones is kind of a big deal. It's one of the--if not the--most popular books and shows of all-time and continues to barrel through pop culture as a juggernaut. Dark Horse has hopped aboard that train and created a line of figures that's looking to expand with a slew of new characters. Those characters include Sansa Stark, Jorah Mormont, Sandor Clegane, Brienne of Tarth

“We have been floored by the response to these figures,” Dark Horse product development head David Scroggy noted, “and these will give fans the new favorites we have come to know as the epic saga unfolds."

Sansa Stark, the oldest Stark daughter, fled King’s Landing to the Eyrie with Littlefinger’s assistance after Joffrey’s murder and now travels alongside him. The figure measures 7.75” in height. The fine detailing of her black and midnight blue dress is exactly as seen in the HBO series. Jorah Mormont, an exiled Northern lord, originally joined Daenerys’s company as a spy on behalf of King Robert, but ultimately became committed to her cause. He followed Daenerys, providing counsel, but was banished when she learned of his betrayal. The Jorah figure measures 7.85” in height, with the paint application reproducing the nuances of his likeness and costume.

Sandor Clegane, the former Kingsguard better-known as The Hound, abandoned King Joffrey and his post during the Battle of Blackwater. After encountering Ayra Stark at the Riverlands, he held her captive while travelling to the Eeyrie in hopes of collecting a ransom. The Hound’s formidable proportions are reflected in this 8.4” figure. He is shown wearing his signature helmet, which is hinged so that it opens and closes. Brienne of Tarth, warrior of House Tarth and vassal to House Baratheon, is a skilled fighter. After serving as the Kingsguard for Renly Baratheon and the sworn sword of Catelyn Stark, she bonds with Jaime Lannister while escorting him back to King’s Landing, where he gives her a new suit of armor and a Valyrian steel sword reforged from Eddard Stark’s great sword, Ice. This armor is reproduced on our 8” tall figure, with all the impeccable details accounted for.

Slated for a Fall 2015 release, these four new characters join four other Dark Horse Game of Thrones figures making their on-sale debut this spring:

Tywin Lannister, former Hand of the King and head of House Lannister and Lord of Casterly Rock, was one of the most powerful lords in Westeros.

Joffrey Baratheon, former King of Westeros before his untimely murder at his wedding, was over-indulged and cowardly. He exhibited a cruel streak toward the vulnerable.

Petyr (“Littlefinger”) Baelish, the eyes and ears of King’s Landing, left his role as master of coin in the Small Council to secure the Vale by marrying Lysa Arryn.

Hodor and Bran are practically inseparable since Bran was pushed from a tower in Winterfell and lost the ability to walk. In this figure, Hodor carries Bran Stark on his back, immortalizing the close bond the two characters share. This special “double figure” is larger than others in the line, measuring a Hodor-sized nine inches, including the base.

These Game of Thrones figures have a suggested retail price of $24.99-$39.99 and are presented in deluxe window box packaging. Full press release below.

Book of Death #1 Gets Deluxe Ultra-Coated Cover Treatment

Summer is a time for Hollywood blockbusters, weekend cookouts and mega-events for comic book publishers. Valiant will be partaking in at least one of the three, as Book of Death #1 kicks off their four-issue event series in July. To celebrate the launch of the Robert Venditti/Robert Gill/Doug Braithwaite collaboration, Valiant will use the issue as the first to debut its new, deluxe ultra-coated cover process. To make sure every retailer has an opportunity to examine this new type of cover process up close, Valiant will be mailing sample printings of the the deluxe ultra-coated covers to select comic book stores across the country, along with free Book of Death promotional items including posters, pre-order coupons, bookmarks, pens and more, in advance of the series' June 22nd final order cut-off date.

"BOOK OF DEATH is more than just a summer event. It's a road-map to Valiant's future that will have fans returning to each issue for years to come," said Valiant Publisher Fred Pierce. "Given the colossal importance that BOOK OF DEATH holds for the biggest heroes in the Valiant Universe – and the suitably epic story that Robert Venditti, Robert Gill, and Doug Braithwaite have crafted – it is only fitting that we give BOOK OF DEATH the stunning presentation it deserves…and it's just the first of many surprises yet in store for Valiant's most ambitious event to date."

So let it be written… So let it be done… On July 15th, the next two thousand years of history collide with the most powerful heroes of today. The Valiant heroes. X-O Manowar. Bloodshot. Ninjak. The Harbinger Renegades. Unity. This is how they lived. This is how they died. Now we know. The Book of the Geomancer has recorded it all. But only a young girl – the last in a line of the enigmatic mystics who protect the Earth known as Geomancers – has seen this future come to pass, from the coming cataclysm to the dawn of the 41st century. Alone with her sworn protector, the Eternal Warrior – a soldier battle-forged across five thousand years of combat – the duo must defy their allies to stop the Dark Age that now threatens to eclipse our world. Together, they are the number one target of every hero and villain on Earth. Either the Eternal Warrior hands her over…or they take him down. But can even he single-handedly protect one child when the entire Valiant Universe wages war against him?

If you're a retailer and would like to ensure you that you receive a Book of Death promotional bundle, including your Book of Death #1 deluxe ultra-coated cover sample, please email and be sure to include the name of your retail outlet and mailing address. X-O Manowar keeps trucking along, serving as the catalyst for the rebirth of the Valiant Universe. That momentum continues in X-O Manowar #39 and the start of the Exodus story arc. Robert Venditti and Rafa Sandoval team up to trap X-O Manowar between two peoples he has sworn to protect in humanity and a mass migration of alien refugees.

"What an amazing story Rob has planned for you all - a twist on Aric's history that remains true to X-O Manowar's spirit and will be full of surprises for longtime Valiant fans and new readers alike," said X-O Manowar editor Tom Brennan. "X-O Manowar spent so much of his life fighting the Vine and now he must be their champion - how will Earth react? Or his fellow survivors of Vine enslavement for that matter? We're going to answer those questions and more, and Rafa Sandoval's ability to brilliantly blend character drama and widescreen action is the perfect compliment to Rob's story of what it truly means to be a hero."

Aric of Dacia is X-O Manowar, hero to humanity, leader of the remaining Visigoths, and a husband about to start a new family. He is also the bearer of Shanhara, and tantamount to a god in the eyes of the alien race known as the Vine. Now, in the aftermath of DEAD HAND's destruction of their world, the Vine need a new home and have chosen Earth – tearing Aric between two races that worship him, but each despise one another. Have these last living remnants of the Vine's civilization come seeking peace? And what changes will their arrival herald for our world? All – human and alien alike – will be tested when an old enemy seizes this moment of turmoil to attack Aric at his weakest…and forces the people of Earth to pay an impossible price for X-O Manowar's allegiance.

X-O Manowar #39 features covers by Sandoval, Robert Gill, CAFU and Brent Peeples. Full press release below.

Boy-1 Evolves in August

Summer 2016 is shaping up to be big for IDW Publishing. In an effort to keep that awesomeness going, IDW Publishing is pleased to announce Boy-1, written by HS Tak and illustrated by Amancay Nauelpan. Boy-1 captures the futuristic journey of a man who discovers he is the subject of a groundbreaking experiment that spins out of control and soon threatens the extinction of all mankind. With nations hunting him as they struggle to maintain order, every move he makes comes with a thousand repercussions.

“I was impressed by the singular vision that Himkar had for Boy-1 when we first talked about it a while back, and seeing it come together visually thanks to Amancay’s great artwork makes it even more vivid,” said Chris Ryall, IDW’s Chief Creative Officer/Editor-in-Chief. “I’m very happy we could make this one happen at IDW.”

Boy-1 is set in a world after the completion of The Human Genome Project heralds a new age in science, medicine, and technology, but any form of human cloning has been deemed incompatible with society’s standard of ethics. It then goes on to explore what could happen if a group of intrepid researchers didn’t listen. It's also being developed for television by Scripted World.

“I just tried to make a story that would grip and not let go,” said writer/creator Tak. “I’m thankful that Chris Ryall put his eyes on it and brought it into IDW—I can’t think of a better team of storytellers around me. Amancay took the words and lifted them up with his ink.”

“These are the kinds of stories that explode into your life and take you to another world, one that might seem far off but is much closer than we think. We’re thrilled to develop the series for TV,” said Aranya.

Review - Midnight Society: The Black Lake #1

"That was it! Just like you said! You said it would be here--and there it is!"

Treasure hunters are always conflicted about their finds. Some want to keep them as trophies, whereas others are adamant that relics belong in a museum. Amazing finds inspire even more amazing reactions, even if those actions have consequences as they do in Midnight Society: The Black Lake #1 from Dark Horse Comics. The issue is written and illustrated by Drew Edward Johnson, colored by Lizzy John and lettered by Steve Dutro.

Action Lab Unearths Gravedigger

Fancy yourself a fan of hard-boiled comics and it's likely you've come across Digger. The character preceded Criminal and Donald Westlake, with Christopher Mills and Rick Burchett presenting the action in Gravedigger. And now, that comic has found a new home with Action Lab's Danger Zone imprint. "The Predators" is a three-issue mini-series that contains everything readers love in crime comics; hard-boiled action, gorgeous femme fatales, and a hero who's a bit of a bastard. It's not always easy being the bad guy, as career criminal "Gravedigger" McCrae knows all too well. Even with a .9mm automatic in his hand and a wealth of experience under his belt, the veteran thief still finds himself in deadly trouble when his well-laid plans go violently off the rails in a pair of violent, pulp fiction capers.

"Mills and Burchett's Gravedigger is a phenomenal addition to our creator-owned lineup, and we're extremely excited to be working with such notable creators!" said Jason Martin, President of Action Lab: Danger Zone. "Fans of noir and comics like Parker or Sin City will want grab a stiff drink and kick back for a rough time. And hey, this stuff is so widescreen, you'll literally have to turn the book sideways to read it!"

Review - Lantern City #1

"All I'm trying to do is live."

When a ruling class imposes their will on lesser classes, there's going to be some resentment. How the lower classes handle makes for interesting interactions, but more often than not those interactions involve lots of violence and fighting. Both of those are on full display in Lantern City #1 from Archaia. The issue is written by Paul Jenkins and Matthew Daly, illustrated by Carlos Magno, colored by Chris Blythe and lettered by Deron Bennett.

Get Lost in The Fiction

As a purveyor of fine comic books, BOOM! Studios knows a thing or two about crafting fantastic tales rooted strongly in fiction settings. They appreciate readers picking up their books and getting lost in them, giving completely into one's imagination. Curt Pires and David Rubín are taking that concept one step further in The Fiction #1. The series is about a group of childhood friends who discover doorways to other worlds through a set of strange books, in the vein of The Unwritten and Jumanji.

“Everyone loves getting pulled into a good story, but what happens if the story doesn’t want to let you back out again?” said BOOM! Studios Editor-in-Chief Matt Gagnon. “Curt has tapped into the ultimate fantasy of escapism and turned it on its head. David is a hugely talented artist who’s been tasked with creating two worlds in The Fiction, and he’s blown us away. This is a series that embraces the beauty and narrative potential of the comic book medium.”

Four childhood friends discover a box of strange books that, when read aloud, can transport them to the beautiful, imaginary worlds described within. But when one of them goes missing, the others vow never to reveal where they’ve been and what they’ve seen. Years later, when one of the remaining kids, now an adult, also mysteriously disappears, it’s up to the last two of the group to dig up their dusty books to find him and finally figure out what happened to their friend all those years ago.

The Fiction #1 arrives in comic shops on June 17th with a main cover by Rubín for the price of $3.99 under Diamond order code APR151177. Also available in a limited quantity are a 10 Years incentive cover by Frazer Irving and a retailer incentive cover by Tula Lotay. The Final Order Cutoff deadline for retailers is May 25th.

Selling Souls for Rock 'N' Roll

Paul Cornell and Tony Parker are teaming up for a tale that features black magic, classic rock and hilarity. The series is This Damned Band and the first issue hits stores on August 5. The work is being described as "Spinal Tap meets Ghostbusters" and is a documentary-style book. In 1974 the world’s most famous rock band thought they were “worshiping Satan,” only to find out they were actually…worshiping Satan.

Fans eager to hear more about the series can catch Cornell and Parker at Phoenix Comicon, May 28–31, at Dark Horse Comics’ signings and panels.

Review - The Rise of the Antichrist #1

"God works in mysterious ways."

Faith is a powerful means of dealing with life. Some people use it as a guide, whereas others use it exclusively to make tough decisions. There are still others who feel completely devoted to it in a way that borders on obsession, which leads to situations such as those in The Rise of the Antichrist #1 from Ether Comics. The issue is written by Betvin Géant, illustrated by Kay and colored by Milton Das.

Review - The Mantle #1

"If this is the Mantle, we're doomed."

Every superhero needs an origin story. Something to engender sympathy on the part of the reader. A tale that showcases that hero's new powers and the direction they plan to go with them. Not every superhero gets life they think they deserve though, such as Robbie in The Mantle #1 from Image Comics. The issue is written/lettered by Ed Brisson, illustrated by Brian Level and colored by Jordan Boyd.

Loot Crate Goes BOOM!

And what better way to enjoy this fun, oversized comic adventure than to receive an exclusive variant in your Loot Crate subscription box? Loot Crate and BOOM! Review - Remnants #1

"Those who had shielded underground shelters survived but they had to stay under and outlast the energy generator."

The goal of clean energy continues to elude even the best scientist. IN Remnants #1 from Hound Comics it is created, but with disastrous negative consequences. The issue is written and illustrated by Mark Vuycankiat and lettered by Apol Geronimo-Vuycankiat.

Archie Comics Expands on World of Archie #1

Archie Comics' continued foray into diversifying its properties and getting crazy with it soldiers on, as the publisher is poised to launch three new series in Jughead, Betty & Veronica and Life With Kevin. To help get those books off the ground, the publisher needs a little Kickstarter help. The Kickstarter campaign’s call to action is a simple one: Help Archie Comics build a New Riverdale. The books plan to build off the success of Archie #1 by Mark Waid and Fiona Staples.

“Our fans are part of our family — they’re an integral part of everything we do,” said Archie Comics Publisher/Co-CEO Jon Goldwater. “We’re not flush with corporate cash like Marvel or DC. But we’re also not afraid to take calculated risks. With this Kickstarter, fans have the chance to get in on the ground floor of an exciting and forward-thinking initiative. Fans can help build a New Riverdale, brick-by-brick. We’ve put together a stellar lineup of titles — featuring the best and the brightest creators working on our top characters. With your help, we can make this New Riverdale a reality. The best part? This is only the beginning.”

Jughead is written by Chip Zdarsky and is an off-the-wall series full of laughs, unexpected twists and a modern sense of humor. Betty and Veronica focuses on the friendship between Betty and Veronica and is written/illustrated by Adam Hughes. Finally, Life With Kevin is written by Dan Parent and illustrated by J. Bone, telling the tale of an older Kevin navigating a new city and new romance.

“When I first stepped into the Archie offices, the brand was frozen in time. The stories felt stiff and dated. That’s no longer the case,” Goldwater said. “This is a new Archie. A new Jughead. A new Betty and Veronica and a new Kevin. We’re holding onto the things that made them great — the humor, the love triangle, the friendship and youthful exuberance — but presenting them in a way that can appeal to everyone, from classic comic fans to new readers who might not know every nook and cranny of our history. Each part of this is a brick that will help build a New Riverdale. But we can only do it with your help.”

Review - I.C.E. Bayou Blackout #1

"I'm thinking about cashing it all in. Becoming a traffic cop or something."

Life as an Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agent certainly has moments of excitement and intrigue, but those moments are usually balanced out by what is perceived as n obscene amount of paperwork. There's never seemingly a dull moment though, especially for the agents in I.C.E. Bayou Blackout #1 from 12-Gauge Comics. The issue is written by Doug Wagner, illustrated by Daniel Hillyard, colored by Charlie Kirchoff and lettered by Ed Dukeshire.

Action Lab Gets Collectible

Action Lab Entertainment is rapidly making a name for itself as an up and coming publisher. Part of that reputation is based on a diverse line of titles, which the publisher is now capitalizing on for a new line of Action Lab collectibles. They're starting with two new offerings: a plush figure based on Katie Cook's popular Gronk series and a statue based on Dan Mendoza's Zombie Tramp.

"Every creator wants to see their creation jump off the page into other mediums, whether it be movies, apparel, or action figures," said Vito Delsante, Action Lab's Associate Director of Marketing. "Both GRONK and ZOMBIE TRAMP have vocal, and faithful, followings and we're excited to offer these collectibles to their growing fan bases."

Since Gronk is an all-ages book, it made sense to present it as a plush doll, the perfect gift for kids of ANY age. Priced at just $11.99, the Gronk plush is sure to make fans everywhere happy. Based on the lead character in fan favorite writer/artist Katie Cook's series, the Gronk plush is six inches of pure adorableness and is sure to delight your entire family...and maybe even your cats. For Zombie Tramp, being a mature readers title, was a natural fit for a statue, something adult collectors everywhere will want to add to their collections. Designed by Mendoza and sculpted by Eye 5 Toys, this 1/6th scale hand painted collectible statue stands at 12 inches tall. The design replicates Zombie Tramp's signature cute, but sexy, style and even includes her copy of the Nercronomicon as it's base. The standard version carries an SRP of $199.00 and the extremely limited signed edition (50 pieces worldwide!) retails for $299.

"This is an exciting time for Action Lab," said Action Lab President, Kevin Freeman. "The company is growing and the books are gaining national recognition. Branching off into other mediums is a feather in Action Lab's cap. Both of these projects are gorgeous, and I have no doubt that people will want to add these to their collections."

Defense With The BoomStick

Disclaimer: This post is an ongoing story set in a world where zombies have taken over and people are fighting to survive anyway they can. This is my story of survival.

Year 6. Week 37.

East coast here we come.

I know saying that statement would make us seem crazy. With New England written off as a radioactive zone and Florida bombed all to hell (and too many swamps for zombies to hide in), sticking to the middle part of the east coast is the goal.vWe need to find a spot far enough away from the active radioactive zones that gives us a good location which can provide some pretty important things. One of those things is having a working port or at least a harbor so we can get boats in and out. The whole point of getting an east coast outpost is so we can connect with the rest of the world at some point, with the Caribbean being the first step into the larger world.

Review - Arcadia #1

"...I'm going to turn you into light."

Humans thrive on being social. There are some out there who enjoy being alone, but generally there's an innate desire amongst humans to interact with one another with some frequency. Stripping away the physical interaction may or may not have an impact on humanity's general condition, but it's something BOOM! Studios wants to explore in Arcadia #1. The issue is written by Alex Paknadel, illustrated by Eric Scott Pfeiffer and lettered by Colin Bell.
